Reporting to the Regional Operations’ Director, the Regional Environment, Health and Safety & Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for the implementation of a common Health, Safety, Environment and Continuous Improvement strategy as per the Graham Operating System (GOS) requirements. 

He/she will develop a high performing Health & Safety organization focused on a ZERO accident and full Health & Safety culture within the regional Plants, working hand in hand with the Global Safety Manager. He/she will assist the Regional OPS team in identifying impacts of business changes to EHS, identification of successful business tools and applications, tracking and measuring success to promote value added services to the organization

He/She will be skilled in assessing and diagnosing the root causes of problems that lead to defective products, production yield loss and reduced productive uptime. He/she will develop and manage 8D projects to systematically address the Pareto of improvement opportunities using Lean tools and the Graham Operational Excellence (OPEX) continuous improvement process. He/she will be knowledgeable in the fundamentals of lean manufacturing including reduction of variability, waste elimination, and theory of constraints to drive continuous improvement.

Pour ce poste vos missions seront :

Health & Safety/Environment programs:

  • Strengthen and continuously improve Health & Safety results targeting ZERO accident whilst building a strong Safety Culture
  • As a Health & Safety champion, successfully apply current tools and implement new ones
  • Assist site management in executing Environmental, Health & Safety priorities, metrics, goals and requirements
  • EHS Critical Program Implementation / Integration support for operations
  • Provide EHS technical guidance and support to site management to ensure compliance with EHS regulatory requirements
  • Keep management apprised of EHS progress and significant developments on key site projects
  • Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol
  • Assist with investigations in responding to significant incidents and government requests/notices
  • Provide leadership & support for training programs to build EHS technical, management and leadership skills of site leadership team and employees
  • Performs all job duties in a safe manner and obeys all safety policies and procedures
  • Environmental compliance and Audit/Control (policy development, tools, auditing trainings & performance programs)
  • Sustainability Program support – EHS KPIs and Zero Net Waste initiatives

 

Health, Safety & Environment, Corporate Initiatives – Policies:

  • Be in close contact with the Global Safety Manager to implement GPC programs within the region, or any other key improvement initiatives
  • Analyze and communicate site EHS performance against expectations, provide feedback, establish and track required actions to improve performance
  • Work with Plants and business leaders to support them to drive Health & Safety and Environment improvements through solid standards and processes
  • Interact with the regional leadership to drive their local Health & Safety, Environment and continuous improvement programs through all business functions, not only Operations

 

Deployment of the CI strategy

  • Use observation, questioning and data measurement to fully understand and categorize yield and uptime issues.
  • Identify and eliminate sources of variation that lead to changes to the Standard Operating Condition (SOC).
  • Facilitate problem solving to root cause elimination and permanent reduction of variance and Kaizen events by leveraging/modeling the DMAIC process.
  • Advocate for the Voice of the Customer (VOC) via process capability and defect elimination.
  • Assess standard work artifacts and training to better understand the origin of production flow issues.
  • Contract or otherwise coordinate third parties to perform equipment or system assessments.
  • Conduct timing and point of loss yield studies to identify the loss Pareto.
  • Perform data analysis and prepare written reports in order make visible the true nature of problems and opportunities.
  • Develop a detailed root cause analysis for each problem, where each root cause is validated through testing, i.e. the condition or defect can be turned on or off.
  • Develop countermeasures that could range from basic problem containment to system repair to equipment replacement.
  • Generate and communicate implementation plans using relevant tools
  • Formulate strategic improvement hypotheses within the A3 Thinking process.
  • Lead Daily Management processes to validate that actions lead to desired performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate CI team to achieve plant and company goals
  • Participate to the reporting or plants evaluation when needed
  • Handle communication, training (including best practices sharing) and coaching for the plants interlocutors where new standards are to be applied (specific or generic) and train teams to integrate the OPEX system into the day to day operations of sites
  • Support our New technology development to improve our data digitization/computerization (Streamline for example, new software solutions, …), Real Time Importer (IIot) & overall Industry 4.0 skills and means, with the support of US Corporate, Machinery centers, and any information from suppliers, medias, customer expectations

        CI Plant support

  • Analyze operational performance & designs trials by using Minitab (SPC). Analyze and consolidate Quality and production data to provide comprehensive sources of information to the plant operator to get a more predictive approach on product Quality
  • Review the Daily Management processes to anticipate actions to enhance performance
  • Support the deployment of Lean tools such as to improve plant Health & Safety, quality and overall performance
  • Proactively seek problems that need to be solved and quantify the anticipated benefit of solving each particular problem, support, participate and, when required, facilitate Problem solving on each specific issue with the relevant methodologies (recurrent or not) till the end and closure

Profil

Minimum job specifications and requirements

  • Education: Higher education degree in Safety / Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing related
  • Trainings: any trainings in Minitab, Infinity, SAP, statistical data’s, Kaizen, 6 Sigma, Visual Management, RTI and Streamline, Industry 4.0, Food safety & usage in food industry, Audits, methodology on problem solving and risk assessments, (FMEA, HACCP), Management System versus ISO standards (Quality & Food safety), Experience in a structured problem solving and continuous improvement mindset workplace
  • Experience: at least 5 years of experience in an operational position such as Health & Safety, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement tools implementation, Sustainability in cooperation with Customers. Experience working in the plastics manufacturing industry is a plus. Fluent English (high majority of the communication will be in English).
  • Soft-skills: 
    • Autonomous and methodic and rigorous (data base and verification of documents need accuracy & method)
    • Self-disciplined, proactive, able to propose
    • Easy communication with external parts and new external parts, positive attitude
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Must be highly organized and demonstrate excellent judgment, decision and discretion abilities

 

Working conditions

The role is based at the European HQ in Rueil Malmaison. The incumbent may be required to travel on a regular basis, mostly within the European Plants.

Indirect Management with Plant Health & Safety Coordinators, Plant OPEX leaders and Plant Quality Managers in all regional Plants.
